Ragusa Swiss Chocolate

Ragusa Swiss Chocolate

Grand-Rue 21, 2608 Courtelary, Switzerland

How is it produced?

The most key ingredient is the cocoa seed, from the cocoa bean. Which is grown in Central/South America as well as Western Africa. Other ingredients that are required are sugar cane and hazelnuts.

Describe the supply chain to the store shelf in Canada:

Ragusa Swiss Chocolate bars are packaged and then exported from Switzerland at a high rate and then are shipped to Canada and the United States.

What is the power balance between the producer and seller?

There is a massive difference in power. Many of the cocoa seed harvesters work long hours for very low pay, they’re also often very young when they start.

Can you recommend changes to the system to improve the balance?

None of what I can recommend can really be incorporated due to the difference in working standards in the countries where cocoa is produced.
